Abstract A strong insurance sector is necessary for the economic development of countries. It provides funds for both physical and social infrastructure while strengthening risk-taking capacity. However, insurance industry in Lebanon is still in a premature stage and it needs to be well-developed in order to promote economic growth.

Chapter one is a brief introduction about risks and insurance. Chapter two presents a review of the development of risk management techniques throughout history. Chapter three examines the channels through which insurance sector promotes economic growth. Chapter four will be a profound analysis of the Lebanese insurance sector. Chapter five concludes the project with some recommendations for further development of the Lebanese insurance market
